How accessible is the website?

We consider this website to be partially compliant with the law on accessibility to digital public services. The content that is not accessible is described below.

Content that is not accessible

The following content is not accessible under WCAG 2.1 level AA:

The Chess School (skola.schackappen.se)

• The squares of the chessboard cannot yet be navigated with the keyboard's arrow keys. Pieces are moved with mouse or touch. Playing the chess game itself is therefore not fully keyboard-accessible. We are working on adding arrow-key navigation following the ARIA grid pattern.
• Sagas with narration lack transcripts. We plan to caption all sagas.
• Some visual animations (particles, decorations) cannot be turned off individually. Users who have enabled the operating system's "Reduce motion" setting automatically get animation reduced to a minimum.

The Teacher Portal (portal.schackappen.se)

• Some dropdown menus (for example "change teacher") do not fully follow the ARIA combobox pattern. Keyboard users can navigate with Tab and Enter, but arrow keys between menu options are missing.

What are we doing to become more accessible?

We work on accessibility continuously. Right now we have the following on our plan:

• Caption all sagas in the Chess School.
• Add keyboard navigation to the chessboard.
• Improve the Teacher Portal's menus to follow the ARIA combobox pattern.
• Carry out an independent accessibility audit.

We expect to address this during autumn 2026.

How have we tested the website?

We have tested accessibility ourselves with:

• Automated review with axe DevTools.
• Manual keyboard navigation.
• Screen reader (VoiceOver on macOS).
• Colour contrast measurement using WCAG formulas.
